The concept comes from a fundamental question: Why do we need a table? The answer is simple and based on a shared physical property of objects—a gravitational field. It doesn’t matter if you sit next to or place something on the table; it still holds us and continues the harmony of movement on Earth.
The main shape uses a gravitational field in material behaviour and the 3D printing process. It mimics a force field or, by changing the thickness of a printing line, uses gravity during the printing process. Natural shape variations are based on a harmony of waves to emphasise the meaning of magnetic balance on Earth.
Design and production are based on two strategies. The first one involves a full print on a printing bed, including various ways to change the printing line's thickness and the nozzle's position in a Z-direction during a print. The second strategy involves using two robot arms. The first robot arm turns a rotation table while the second prints over it. In the second strategy, the last layer of print is printed by changing the Z-direction of the nozzle to give specific arcs between the grid.
