Grid2Shell

Grid2Shell is an exhibit meant to show the possibilities of the system technology and its design flexibility. It is one of the Welcome Forums for Schuco HQ pieces in Belfield. I have created shapes that embody the system’s possibilities and complement them with soft forms. The sail of the boat inspires the geometry of the grid. I wanted to give visitors a feel of scaling up a well-known object that wasn’t scaled up in such an architectural execution. It’s the symbol of power in free form. Using innovation is a wind in a sail for those possibilities. The structure is designed to contain only four joints on the side walls and two on the floor. During the process, new details were proposed to the system to align the shading system with glass finishing better.
